FAQ

FAQ for All Portrait Sessions

FAQ for client photo sessions: My philosophy is that they should be relaxed and hopefully a little bit fun!

What should I wear?

For family portraits, I recommend figuring out which colors will work best hanging on your wall. Don't be afraid of prints/patterns! Because prints and patterns are sometimes hard to coordinate, one or two people can wear prints and the others can compliment with simpler colors/solids. Long dresses often look really nice and break up the sameness of jeans/pants. Bright whites outdoors don't always turn out well and often stand out too much - stick with ivory or gray. Scarves are a favorite of mine - choose a color that compliments your eyes and skin tone. Comfort is key! Feel good in what you are wearing! Keep in mind that short skirts can make it hard for sitting, so that can limit the versatility of poses.

My kids really won't sit still for photos!

Great! I specialize in children. I have a few tricks up my sleeve.  And if they don't work, I'll just chase them around and get some exercise while capturing some natural photos.

What time of the day do you take photos?

Because light is key in taking photos, when shooting outdoors, it's best to shoot earlier or later in the day.  That way, we don't have a bunch of splotchy shadows on the face from the overhead sun.  If we are indoors, it really depends on when the light inside is best.

What happens if it's raining during our scheduled session?

I'm pretty flexible and can reschedule during a time that will work for you.  Otherwise, I can offer some indoor options.

How would you describe your style?

I would say "natural."  I prefer natural light (sun).  I limit my photo editing so that you don't look airbrushed or plastic - you are beautiful the way you are!  My favorite photos are the ones that are captured in the moment.
